Company History

Cleartech Waste Services Ltd are a total waste management (TWM) and facilities company based in Hull, East Yorkshire. We manage TWM contracts nationwide and all deal with all types of waste projects for our clients ranging from recyclable products to hazardous and chemical materials as well as operating a facilities management division for our larger customers.

Cleartech are fully specialised in the management of organising and disposing of all possible waste streams out of different sectors of industry with competitive rates and a 100% commitment to legal compliance.

The company was founded in 1999, initially as a hazardous waste broker.  We started out by performing full waste audits for our clients and organising for their hazardous waste to be removed safely and efficiently from their sites in the most cost effective way whilst making sure that everything was fully compliant with the waste regulations.

As the company grew and our client base became larger, we started to invest in our own fleet of vehicles to enable us to carry out our own transportation of waste and provide an even more cost effective service. We were now able to travel further afield and utilise alternative disposal outlets and methods.

By 2003 we were running our own transport fleet which included 7.5 Ton Trucks, Skip Trucks, Articulated Lorries, Tanker Units and Jet Vac Units and operating across the whole of the north of England.

2005 saw us open our first material recycling facility (MRF) in Hull. With the government hiking up the landfill tax charges, companies had to start looking for alternative ways of disposing of their general waste in order to keep their costs down. At that time we didn’t really get involved too much in general waste disposals but with peoples emphasis’ changing and the fact that everyone was now looking for a greener solution we opened the MRF and offered our customers total waste management programs to divert their waste away from landfill.

2008 saw a major development in the history of Cleartech when a takeover of the company was agreed with the then Finance Director Scott Gibson and his father Steve Gibson both purchasing the company in full. The takeover was completed in January 2009 and the change in ownership has seen the company go from strength to strength. The fleet has been extended further with additional skip trucks and tanker units added as well as a new front end loader (FEL) and a rear end loader (REL). The addition of some new key personal and management re-structuring after the takeover has helped result in a number of new large contracts been secured which has resulted in the company’s turnover more than tripling since the new owners acquired the business.

2011 is set to be an exciting period for the company with a move to new premises on the horizon. The move should take place in the early part of 2011 and will see Cleartech move to a new 2.1 acre site and bring the office operation together with a new and improved MRF, which will enable us to improve our operations and services even further.
